Microneedling is a procedure which is used to rejuvenate skin. It is performed with a medical device, the DermarollerTM, which stimulates new collagen production in the skin for a rejuvenation effect. The micro needle punctures in the skin stimulate this healing response. Microneedling is carried out as an outpatient procedure with local anaesthetic cream to numb the treatment area in advance. It is most commonly used to treat the face, neck and decolletage to reduce fine lines but can also be used to treat acne scars and other skin scars and stretch marks. Usually at least three treatment sessions are required approximately six weeks apart. The response to treatment can vary from person to person.
