About Nora Nugent


Ms Nora Nugent is a fully qualified plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon. She is registered on the specialist register in plastic surgery with the General Medical Council (GMC No: 6116591) and the Irish Medical Council (IMC No: 23855).  Nora holds the FRCS (Plast) qualification as well as a certificate of completion of specialist training in plastic surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She has also obtained the European Diploma in Hand Surgery.


Nora graduated from medical school at University College Dublin and completed her basic surgical training and specialist training in plastic surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. To further develop her clinical expertise, she then undertook specialist fellowships in North America and Australia. Training in advanced burn critical care and burn surgery (acute and reconstructive) was undertaken during her fellowship at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Galveston, Texas. Prior to taking up her consultant post, Nora obtained additional subspecialty training in Australia completing a plastic surgery fellowship at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney which encompassed both reconstructive surgery (including microsurgery) and all areas of aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery. This was followed by a hand surgery fellowship with Victorian Hand Surgery Associates, Melbourne. On returning from Australia, she took up a consultant post with the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead.

Ms Nugent was the Surgical Tutor for Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS) Deanery in Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead and the Programme Director for Core Surgical Trainees from 2013 to 2018.  She is a trained Educational and Clinical Supervisor with KSS Deanery of plastic surgery trainees and is involved in teaching and clinical training of trainees. She is currently the Clinical Lead for Burns at the Queen Victoria Hospital and Deputy Chair of the London & South East Burns Network ODN.

Nora is regularly invited to national and international conferences to lecture on plastic surgery topics. She has published clinical studies in several national and international medical journals and has regularly presented her work to the plastic surgery clinical society meetings. She has also written a number of book chapters in her areas of clinical interest.


Nora Nugent maintains a broad range of clinical interests within plastic surgery and regularly attends conferences within the specialty to keep up to date with evolving techniques and new developments in plastic surgery. Her clinical interests include a specialist interest in aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery of the face, breast and body as well as medical aesthetic procedures. She is also a member of multidisciplinary clinical groups overseeing the management of burns, skin cancer and lower limb injuries.
